FRIDAY MARTINI MIX WINNER: The term Bardo Thodol (Tibetan: bardo "liminality"; thodol as "liberation"[1]), refers to Liberation through Hearing in the Intermediate State, and is a funerary text that describes, and intends to guide one through, the experiences of the consciousness after death during the interval known as bardo between death and rebirth. Spineshaker thinks this is a fitting name for a mix that is definitely other-worldly. Some wonderful producers are included in this mix, like Spineshaker's hometown favourties "Cobblestone Jazz", 2020 Soundsystem, Dennis Ferrer, and of course Trentemoller. Certainly a mellow mix, but with the heavy weight producers listed above it deserves a listen, if nothing else than for a contemporary history lesson (oxymorron? perhaps!). Best described as a glitchy ambient mix. A lunar snow storm gives way to the gentle rays of Jupiter's undiscovered fifth sun. A green alien, with nine legs and a bright orange horn, cracks a yawn and rises from his crater. Turning on his solar radio, as he always does when he brushes the teeth at the back of his head, he tunes into DJ AAA's Delta mixtape. What he hears, is a mix of cosmic heavy breathing, an experiment in spacial audio accoustics, and a soft crackling static synthesis.
